Mendoza nightlife: sunsets, electronic music and the nights worth the trip

The best of Mendoza nightlife is the electronic music sunset: parties that start in daylight, follow the sun as it drops behind the Andes and carry on into the night, among the vineyards of Maipú and Luján de Cuyo or up in the mountains at Potrerillos and Cacheuta. The biggest, Hernán Cattáneo's Sunsetstrip, drew more than 22,000 people over three days in December 2025, and the 2026 edition is on 5 and 6 December. In Mendoza, some parties are 21+ only and others 25+ only: the rule comes from the promoter, not the venue.

The scene even has a nickname on social media: MendoIbiza. And foreign visitors still barely show up. Not for lack of interest, but because few people know it exists.

What are the best parties in Mendoza?

The ones I recommend most, each with its own feel:

  • Sunsetstrip (Potrerillos): Hernán Cattáneo's event at the Gran Hotel Potrerillos. In 2026, Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December. The 2025 edition sold out three months ahead. See Sunsetstrip 2026 in Potrerillos: getting there, sleeping and getting back (in Portuguese).
  • Las Palapas (Potrerillos): the sunset next to the Gran Hotel Potrerillos, facing the reservoir. Spring season from September to December and summer season from January to April; the season calendar is posted on their Instagram. Fatboy Slim and Polo & Pan have played there. Everything in Las Palapas Mendoza (in Portuguese).
  • Arcana (Cacheuta and Luján de Cuyo): Arcana Experience returns to Bosque Cacheuta on 5 and 7 December 2026, with a separate ticket for each day. The summer Arcana Festival was held in February 2026 at Lomas del Malbec. Details in Arcana in Cacheuta 2026 (in Portuguese).
  • La Finquita 1920 (Maipú): a hundred-year-old Malbec vineyard in Cruz de Piedra turned Saturday sunset. Its wine is only sold there.
  • Bardo en la Bodega (Luján de Cuyo): a multi-course lunch with wine and, on set dates, a DJ sunset among the vines; the dates are posted in the calendar on their Instagram (feed and stories).
  • New Year's Eve: Solomun plays the Teatro Griego Frank Romero Day, the Vendimia amphitheatre, as 2026 turns into 2027.

For the late-2026 calendar of electronic music parties in Mendoza with international DJs, I wrote Electronic parties in Mendoza: 2026 DJ agenda (in Portuguese).

What is a "sunset" party in Mendoza?

It's the format that defines nightlife here. The party starts in the afternoon, glass in hand, the best moment is when the sun drops behind the Andes, and the dance floor takes over once it's dark.

Arriving at a sunset after the sun has set is like arriving at a gig after the encore.

It's less nightclub, more landscape. That's why I put sunsets into the itinerary as a day plan, not as one more night out.

What is the minimum age for parties in Mendoza?

It depends on the party. In Mendoza, some nights are 21+ only and others 25+ only. It surprises a lot of visitors.

The rule isn't the club's or the venue's. Venues work with promoters, and each promoter sets the age, price and rules for each date. The same dance floor can be 21+ one Saturday and 25+ the next.

Do you need ID, and is there a dress code?

ID: bring your passport or national ID card. Both are usually accepted, and often even a photo of the document. Bring it anyway. In the mountains, you can't go back for it.

Dress code: usually there isn't one, and when there is, the party announces it. The basics always apply: no football shirts, no flip-flops, no beach shorts. Dress well.

Can you buy tickets at the door?

Don't count on it. Not every party or club sells at the door. With an international name on the line-up, buy ahead.

And watch out for resale. The "send the money and the ticket never arrives" scam is real.

How do you get back from parties late at night?

Uber, Cabify and Maxim work in Mendoza, but late at night they're limited and more expensive. The best option is a trusted driver booked for a set time, or one waiting in the party's car park.

For the mountain sunsets, Potrerillos and Cacheuta, about an hour from downtown, a booked transfer stops being a comfort and becomes a necessity. There are private and shared transfers.

A rental car isn't worth it: someone would have to stay sober, and there are police checkpoints on the roads.

Where to stay in Mendoza for the parties?

In downtown Mendoza (the microcentro). You're close to the restaurants, the city parties and a driver who can pick you up without crossing the province. For Sunsetstrip it's worth sleeping in Potrerillos, but places are few and they sell out. Areas and drive times are in where to stay in Mendoza for the parties.

Party tickets, with or without transfer

I can get the tickets for you: official ones, through direct contact with the promoters, including for many dates that already show as sold out. No risk of fake resale. It's a separate service, quoted per event, with or without transfer, shared or private. If I can't get it, you pay nothing.

How do you fit a party into a Mendoza trip?

If you come only for the music and leave, you leave half the trip on the table. Many of the summer parties happen among the wineries of Luján de Cuyo and Maipú.

On the video call, I build the trip around the night: the right winery on the morning of the sunset, an easy next day, the driver arranged. I'm Beto, a private travel advisor in Mendoza. I'm not a travel agency or a tour operator and I take no commission: you book directly, at the real price.
